Sage Stick
Sage Stick
Lighting and using a sage stick, often referred to as smudging, is a traditional practice used for cleansing and purifying spaces.
Set your intention and hold the sage stick at one end and light the other end with a lighter or match. Let it catch fire and burn for a few seconds. Gently blow out the flames, allowing the sage to smolder and produce smoke.
Use your hand or a fan to direct the smoke around the area or object you wish to cleanse. If you are smudging yourself or another person, start from the feet and work your way up to the head, then back down again.
When you are done, press the burning end of the sage stick firmly into a fireproof container until it is completely extinguished.
Make sure there are no remaining embers before leaving the sage stick unattended.
Smudging can be done regularly or whenever you feel the need to cleanse your space or self.
Respect the cultural significance of smudging, which is a sacred ritual for many indigenous cultures.
Palo Santo
Palo Santo
Palo Santo holds significant cultural and spiritual importance in various indigenous traditions in South America. It is used in rituals to connect with the spiritual world, to protect against negative energy, and to bring about healing and blessings.
Hold one end of the Palo Santo stick and light the other end with a lighter or match. Let it catch fire and burn for about 30 seconds to a minute.
Gently blow out the flames, allowing the Palo Santo to smolder and produce fragrant smoke. If you are using a fireproof container, place the smoldering Palo Santo stick in it to catch any ashes.
Move the stick around the area or object you wish to cleanse. Focus on corners, doorways, and windows, as these areas tend to accumulate stagnant energy.
If you are cleansing yourself or another person, start from the feet and work your way up to the head, then back down again.
When you are done, press the burning end of the Palo Santo stick firmly into the fireproof container until it is completely extinguished.
Make sure there are no remaining embers before leaving the Palo Santo stick unattended.
